Watch as Lee Bergin reunites with the RAC Rescue crew that helped saved his life

Lee Bergin was severely injured in 2019 when an oncoming car rounded a bend and crashed into his vehicle. He spent months recovering in hospital and had to learn to walk again. In this video, Lee and his partner got the opportunity to meet up with and thank the RAC Rescue helicopter crew who helped save his life.

National Road Safety Week runs from 15-22 May and provides an opportunity for all of us to reflect on how we improve road safety in Western Australia and drive so others survive.

Our sponsorship of the RAC Rescue helicopters is providing critical care to people in emergency situations. It’s saving lives like Lee’s.

At RAC, we are working to reduce the rate that people are killed or seriously injured on our roads as we advocate for safer roads, vehicles and people. It’s part of our safe pillar, which forms part of our Vision 2030 for a safer, sustainable and connected future.

The work we do at RAC contributes to this Vision and has a direct impact on people like Lee.

Lee’s story serves as an important reminder to “Protect our Protectors” which is today’s National Road Safety Week theme. We encourage you to take care on the roads so you can protect those who protect us.
