In April, when the days soften and the nights cool, one of Western Australia’s most powerful landscapes becomes the setting for a festival unlike any other. From 10 to 13 April 2026, The Karijini Experience returns, inviting visitors to slow down, listen deeply and connect with Country in the heart of Karijini National Park.

Held on Banjima Country, this four-day celebration weaves together art, culture, food and music, offering an intimate way to experience Karijini through the stories and perspectives of its Traditional Owners. Ancient gorges, waterholes and layered rock formations form more than a backdrop, they are part of the narrative, grounding every performance, workshop and shared moment.

The Karijini Experience began in 2013 as a small, under-the-stars dinner for just 75 guests. Since then, it has grown into a significant annual cultural gathering, welcoming thousands of visitors and showcasing artists from multiple Aboriginal language groups,.

Across the four days, guests can move between fine dining experiences beneath vast Pilbara skies, live music concerts, cultural performances and free, family-friendly community events. There are bush walks that reveal native foods and traditional healing practices, storytelling sessions led by Elders, cultural workshops, and opportunities to learn Banjima language in dedicated cultural spaces.

As night falls, music and starlit dinners bring people together, while astronomy sessions invite reflection beneath one of Australia’s clearest skies. Families are welcomed with creative workshops, junior activities and markets, creating an atmosphere that feels both celebratory and respectful.

With balmy days and cooler evenings, April is an ideal time to explore the national park. Visitors can camp in the surrounds of Karijini or stay in nearby towns, with bus transfers available to selected events.
